5 House Cleaning Tips

These House Cleaning tips can help you keep your daily chores manageable, your house cleaner, and your pocket book a little fuller.

  1. Separate your laundry before it reaches the laundry room.
  2. Instead of throwing all of your clothes into one hamper at the end of the night, separate your colors, delicates, and darks into small piles in a divided hamper every time you change. The few seconds it takes for you to separate your laundry when you are changing will go unnoticed, and will save you loads of time when you are doing the laundry. With your laundry already separated you will have manageable loads and won’t spend extra time in the laundry room sifting through large piles trying to make a single load.

  3. Dust early and often.
  4. Dusting is a chore that is often forgotten until it is too late.  Your fan blades and knick knacks go unnoticed collecting dust for months without being moved.  The build up that occurs will create havoc for you when you are trying to clean them up for guests or special occasions.  By taking just a few minutes to keep them clean you could cut out hours off letting them soak in water or  scrubbing them trying to remove the build up that now resembles mud more than dust.

  5. Have your ducts cleaned.
  6. If you really want to cut back on some of the dust that is circulating in your house you need to have your duct work cleaned.  If you haven’t, you are re-circulating dust and dirt that is making your family sick, making your walls dingy, and just adding to the build up of grime on those knick knacks I mentioned before.

  7. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
  8. I am not an environment nut trying to get you to save the world, but using clothe instead of paper towels can reduce the amount of clutter you have in your kitchen and the amount of waste your household produces.  Using cloth towels to clean spills and wipe down sinks will save you from emptying garbage cans as often and will save you a few dollars at the grocery store.

  9. Welcome your guests.
  10. Putting down a welcome mat can reduce the amount of dust, dirt, and water stains on your floors. Reducing the amount of junk that makes it’s way through your high traffic areas will reduce the amount of time you spend cleaning stains and vacuuming your floors. Not to mention it will make your house a home sweet home.
