Beauty Tips for Bride

Your big day is fast approaching.  You have so much on your mind, it’s hard to keep track of all the details, let alone comb the internet, magazines, and books for bridal beauty tips and tricks.  Since you don’t have the time to find these on your own, and frankly, you should be spending your precious time thinking of other details, here are some of the best beauty tips for your wedding day and your bridal look.

1.  Waterproof mascara is your friend.

I highly suggest investing in some good waterproof mascara for your wedding, especially if you’re a very emotional person or even think that you may tear up!  If you don’t really like the look or feel of waterproof mascara, apply one coat of your regular mascara and use waterproof mascara over the top, to “lock” it in.

2.  Designate a “spot-checker.”

Make one of your bridesmaids, maid-of-honor, or mother your spot-checker – someone who keeps their eye on you to let you know if you need a touch-up.  You may even be able to convince them to carry your lipstick or powder in their clutch for easy access.  Since it will be rare that you get a few moments to look at yourself in the mirror after the festivities begin, and even more rare that you will have the appropriate touch-up tools with you if you do find yourself in front of a mirror, having a spot-checker is a good idea.

3.  Be protected.

If you are having an outdoors wedding, make sure that you apply sunscreen to your exposed skin, especially your face.  Since hundreds (maybe even thousands) of pictures will be taken this day, with you as the focal point of at least half of them, you definitely don’t want to look too pink or sunburned.  SPF 30 should do the trick for most women, but if you are very fair-skinned, you may want to try a higher SPF.

4.  Don’t skip the test run.

This is one step in the bridal process that you cannot afford to skip.  Whether you are going for a classic beauty or retro glamour makeup look, you need to see what it will look like before your wedding day.  I’m not saying you shouldn’t trust your makeup artist, but you may drastically change your mind as to what kind of look you want, or you may want her to slightly darken the lips or use a softer eyeshadow.  These are things you can’t possibly know unless you see your makeup on before the big day.

5.  Zap that zit.

The zit is a bride’s worst nightmare.  What happens if break out just two days before the wedding or wake up with a large pimple the day of?  If you get a zit, DON’T touch it or pick at it!  Nothing good will come of poking and prodding it, making it redder and more prone to infection.  If it’s just not going away, make a quick appointment with your dermatologist to get a cortisone shot which will shrink it instantly.

6.  Bright whites.

Nothing is more stunning or more beautifully captured in photos than a brilliant smile.  Even if you have perfectly colored lips, you won’t want to flash a gorgeous smile if your pearly whites aren’t so pearly or white.  Over-the-counter teeth whiteners are getting better and better these days, so if you don’t want to pay for a professional job, these options are just as good and really do work.

Use these tips as you prepare for your wedding day and you are sure to be the gorgeous beauty that everyone is talking about and can’t keep their eyes off – which is the way it’s supposed to be, right?!  Good luck with your beauty preparations, you are going to look perfect!
