I’ve got to admit, I’m a criminal attorney, so this article may be a little self-serving. But it could also be one of the most important articles you ever read. So maybe you should give it a shot, no?
The title of this article is probably a little bit disconcerting. I mean, what kind of family needs a criminal attorney, after all? I mean, if a family needs someone like that at the ready, they must be doing some pretty crazy stuff, right? Actually no. The people that are prepared for emergencies are usually the ones that come out on top when and if an emergency does arise.
Let me give you an example. Let’s say you’ve got a kid. He’s in his teens, and has a driver’s license. He’s a good kid. Plays sports, gets good grades, stays out of trouble. And then one night, late at night, the phone rings. It’s the cops. They are calling to tell you your son’s been in an accident, someone has died, and they think he is responsible. They are holding him for questioning to figure out what happened.
Sounds pretty frightening, right? Only thing is, I didn’t make that story up. It really happened. And now the kid is facing vehicular homicide charges.
In that situation it would be nice to have someone on speed dial that could rush down to the police station and make sure your kid doesn’t say anything stupid, right? I definitely think it would. That’s exactly the kind of situation that makes families love their criminal lawyer. You may never have to use them, but if you do, it’s comforting to know they are there.
And, here’s the other thing about criminal lawyers that make them nice to know. They are probably some of the shrewdest people out there. Feel like you’re getting scammed with something? Feel like you need an honest opinion on something? Need someone reliable to do something for you (not even law related). Call your criminal attorney. Chances are he’s helped people out or met people through his work that he knows are completely trustworthy.
If you haven’t done so already, get out there and find a criminal lawyer you can put on your speed dial. Hopefully you never have to use it. But if you do you’ll be glad you’ve got it.
