Lego is originally a Danish company created by Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1932. He was a carpenter who used to produce wooden toys. The first set of Lego bricks we know of today were created in 1953. The kits and instructions were introduced in 1964 while the Lego Mini figures’ market release came about in 1978.
In the past few years, Lego has slightly veered away from just the regular Lego brick set collecting to include other Lego items such as video games (try the great Star Wars Lego console games), books, its own clothing line including watches, plus board games and even houseware items. Their catalogues are filled with stuff that caters to all avid Lego collectors in different niches. After all, there are Lego collectors ten years ago who is now a work-at-home mom. Why not create a cupboard set for them?
The Lego made it big when it launched its bestseller sets, the Lego Star Wars, back in 1999 alongside other character sets such as Harry Potter and Indiana Jones. Today there are approximately 138 different sets of Lego Star Wars. Some of them are Star Wars Minifigs that are sold separately though there are kits that include the exact same Minifigs. No wonder that some sellers in Ebay can get you the same rare lego minifigures character for a lower price and you can and also find Lego kits that lack some of these elements. Ebay, to me, is the best place to buy and sell pieces. If you are a Lego Star Wars enthusiast who likes to create scenes, go check Ebay to get additional elements that aren’t usually sold separately from Lego itself.
Although some of these items might gather dust in the shelves, no one knows if they’ll be flying off with a high price tag in ten years time but many of the Star Wars sets do. You can also get Star Wars Lego items, sometimes, at a reasonable price from normal brick and mortar retail shops that are about to replace their old stocks with the new series.
