Arthritis is a great weather vane. If you have this disease, you usually can tell when the weather is going to change well before it does. Your joints start to stiffen up and pain begins to set in. Time to pop a few ibuprofen. Or is it? There are things you can do without taking prescription or over the counter drugs to help you get rid of arthritis pain. Here are three of the methods i use to get rid of my pain during a flare up.
1. Arnica and Boswella. These two herbal remedies work great together. They may not be well known, but they are considered by naturopathic practitioners to be effective in treating the swelling associated with arthritis. One of the products I use contains both arnica and boswella. The product is called Cryoderm (TM). You can purchase this product as a gel, spray, or roll on. When you apply it Cryoderm feels a lot like a sports gel such as Ben Gay (TM), but consists of only natural ingredients.
2. Glucosamine and Chondroitin. These incredible natural cures for arthritis are routinely recommended by physicians and sports nutritionists for joint health. Sometimes they are taken individually, but most of the time they are used together. This is simply because they work better in combination. Glucosamine and chondroitin are sugars that occur naturally in the body. Because of this, there is very little risk of a negative response to ingesting them. The benefit of using these two powerhouses are they work to rebuild injured cartilege and the joint itself. Not only that, they work at repairing the damage that has been caused. This is essential to reducing future arthritic flare ups and providing healthy joints. it usually takes around one month before you start noticing any benefits. The problem most people have with glucosamine and chondroitin is not that it doesn’t work, it’s that they quit taking it before the benefits kick in.
3. Devils claw. This herb also known as the unicorn plant for the shape of the seed after it pops open, is useful for regular arthritis and for gout, another form of arthritis. Devil’s claw is thought to reduce the buildup of the acid that causes gout and helps clean out the toxic elements in your joints. You usually have to purchase this as a supplement. This plant is rare in the U.S. although it is found in some places in Texas and Nevada. It is mostly found in Africa. The best place to purchase it is either online or at a store that deals in alternative medicine and herbs.
Arnica and boswella, glucosamine and chondroitin, and devil’s claw are all natural remedies you can use to help hold off arthritis pain the next time your arthritis warns you the weather is about to change.
